Earlier this week the trailer of the anticipated web series ‘Mirzapur 2’ finally released on Tuesday after almost a year-long wait, with adequate violence and drama duly in peace.
A section of people on Twitter started calling for it boycott even before the series is launched. The reason apparently is one of the lead actors in the web series, Ali Fazal, and Mirzapur co-producer Farhan Akhtar.
It so happened that the lead actor of the show, Ali Fazal’s tweets from December 2019, during the CAA NRC protests have been surfaced again and people are citing that the actor ignited mobs. One of the tweets of Ali read as “Protests: Suru Majboori Mein Kiye Thhey, Ab Maja Aa Raha Hai!!!” This hasn’t gone well with the Twitterati who wants to boycott the show.
This is the second time social media is witnessing the boycott trend. Earlier, it took place in August, when the makers announced the premiere date for season 2. Twitter user going by the name ‘@saumyakumary’ had written a note stating wherein she asked people three counter questions in relation to banning Mirzapur due to Ali.
