Rhea Chakroborty reaches ED office after agency rejects plea

Sushant Singh Rajput case update: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has rejected Rhea’s request that the recording of her statement is postponed till the Supreme Court hearing.

Actress Rhea Chakroborty arrived at the ED office in Mumbai for questioning for Sushant Singh Rajput’s case after her plea to put it off was rejected by the agency. Pictures showing the actress arriving at the ED office at 11:30 am have surfaced online. Her brother Shovik and father Indrajit Chakraborty were also seen at the ED office. The agency has also summoned SSR’s former business manager Shruti Modi and his friend Siddhart Pithani to appear before the agency tomorrow 8th August.

Rhea Chakroborty’s lawyer Satish Maneshinde made a statement that said, “ Rhea Chakraborty is a law-abiding citizen. In view of the fact that the Enforcement Directorate has informed the media that the request to postpone the attendance is rejected, she has appeared in the ED at the appointed time and date.”

Rhea Chakraborty has been accused of a role in actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death by his family. Apparently, the Enforcement Directorate had filed a money laundering case in relation to the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput on the basis of a First Information Report filed by the Bihar police. The ED will inspect the allegations of supposed mishandling SSR’s money and bank accounts.

Legal experts state that ED scrutiny is different from the one inspected by the local police. According to normal criminal law, a person is presumed innocent until proven guilty, but under PMLA (prevention of money laundering act), a person is assumed guilty until he proves his/her innocence.
