Delhi’s upscale ITO area collapsed, houses of the slum overflowed


Due to heavy rain a road on drain edge in Delhi’s Anna Nagar slum area collapsed on Sunday. The flow of water was intense, running water was intense which entered the pit which was dug for construction in the area.

As shown in the picture above water starts gushing into the basement of a building under construction from the overflowing sewage drain. Houses starts collapse and get vanished away in the running water, residents can be heard screaming in the background.

Centralised Accident and Trauma Services (CATS) and fire engines were present at the spot. Hence, the ground weakened and many huts collapsed and washed away. The houses that are intact have also seen cracks in walls. The locals are vacating these houses and fleeing to safer places.

Earlier today morning a 60 year old man’s body was found floating in water near a road under the Minto Bridge in Central Delhi. Assistant Commissioner of  Police, Rajendra Dubey said, that the body was found around 10am. “The man named Kundan, was driving his Tata Ace Tempo from Navi Delhi railway station to Connought Place when he possibly drowned”, further said by the ACP.

The body of the man was found closed to the spot where DTC bus was submerged in the water logged underpass.
