The COVID-19 pandemic has attracted everyone’s attraction towards an important but often overlooked system of our body. Everyone is looking for quick means of improving immunity along with maintaining personal hygiene and social distancing.
If you get sick often, feel fatigued, or have other ongoing symptoms you just can’t explain, it may mean you have a weakened immune system. Check out the warning signs and what you can do to give your immune system a boost.
- You have Ongoing Digestive Issues
If you have ongoing issues with bloating, gas, or constipation, it is a typical sign that you have a weak immune system. We now know that about 70 percent of our immune system tissue is located in your digestive tract. The digestive symptoms can be a sign that your immune system is misfiring, which could leave you vulnerable to infections, autoimmune disorders, or chronic inflammation. If your digestive symptoms are ongoing, it may be a good idea to talk to your doctor.
- You always have cold
It is no coincidence that you get sick after a big project at work or following an emotional situation at home. This is due to the long term stress that weakens the responses of your immune systems. The stress decrease the body’s lymphocytes, the white blood cell that helps to fight off infection. The lower your lymphocytes, the more you are at risk for viruses like the common cold.
- You feel tired all the time
If your immune system is struggling, you may feel as though you have no energy to do anything, and you are tired all the time. One of the reasons for this is your body is trying to conserve as much energy as possible for the immune system to use in an attempt to fight off bacteria and illness. Chronic stress can also cause symptoms such as difficulty sleeping. When your immune system struggles, so do your energy level.
