The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert (extremely heavy rain) for districts including Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, Raigad and Ratnagiri on Thursday.
The weather bureau has issued orange alert, predicting thunderstorm accompanied with lightning/ gusty winds and very heavy rain at isolated places in Satara, Kolhapur and Sindhudurg today. The state is expected to receive heavy showers till October 16.
IMD’s Mumbai centre has issued the warning for over 15 districts of the state, including Kolhapur, Pune, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Satara, Sangli, Solapur, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur and Osmanabad.
In Pune, as many as 40 people were rescued in the flood-affected Nimgaon Ketki village in Pune district on Wednesday.
According to SDO, Baramati, Pune, 40 people safely rescued, while rescue operations for 15 others underway in flood-affected Nimgaon Ketki village of Pune district. In another incident near Indapur, two people who washed away with their vehicle have been rescued.
