Immunity booster: Indian traditional boosters for better health

Increase of the Covid-19 pandemic every day, besides external protection like wearing of masks, wearing of gloves, washing hands regularly, maintaining social distancing one also needs to take care of their immunity system by boosting up their energy.

The immunity system is taken for granted as it does a great job by keeping us free from infection. If you have a healthy immune system look after it and it will look after you.

Individuals who have a pre-existing illness like diabetes, hypertension, and respiratory issues are having a higher risk of Covid-19. Here is a list of how to increase your immunity in traditional ways.

Turmeric-

Turmeric has become a popular ingredient for all those people who believe in healthy living. Turmeric is a powerful herb with 300 nutrients like beta-carotene, calcium, fiber, iron, potassium, zinc, and many more.

Absorption of curcumin from turmeric is enhanced by 2000 times by peppering, a compound present in black pepper. Somehow our ancestors seem to have cracked this knowledge as all our recipes have both turmeric and black pepper in combination,” says Nikhil Chaudhary, nutritionist.

-Add raw turmeric and boil it with one teaspoon of ghee and have it every morning. It helps improve immunity and cure dry cough

-One can also grind raw turmeric and one teaspoon ghee and make a cold morning drink before you start your day.

Tulsi-

Tulsi or holy basil is undeniably one of the best medicinal herbs on the planet. The herb has miraculous properties, a few drops of tulsi water dropped in foods can purify and kill germs as well. Tulsi is known as anti-viral and anti-inflammatory properties, consuming Tulsi daily can boost immunity. Consuming 4 to 5 Tulsi leaves an empty stomach every day is very important.

Garlic-

For many years it has been in suggestions that garlic can help with a variety of medical problems, including heart disease, high cholesterol and colds, and flu. Garlic contains allicin which is released when you cut it into vegetables, these anti-oxidants inside it help to fight with the infection and helps to the immunity system. Consumption of raw garlic gloves with a tablespoon of honey is a fantastic way of boosting your immunity system.

Ginger-

Ginger is used in cooking and medicine from the ancient period. This is a popular home remedy used by our ancestors for stomach pain, nausea, and other health issues. Nutrients and Anti-oxidant present in it help to treat infection and also used for boosting immunity. Consuming ginger tea empty stomach could keep away many diseases and strengthen the immune system.

A herbal tea or Kada for boosting immunity

Ingredients:

2-3 Cloves

5-6 Black Pepper

1/2 inch Ginger

2 Small Cardamom

1tsp Cinnamon Powder

2/4 tsp Ajwain

1/2 Haldi

5-6 Tulsi leaves

1tsp Jaggery

Steps:

Take a 4 cup of water mix all the ingredients and let it boil for 10-15 till the water reaches 2 cups. (for 2 cups of tea)

Have this tea in the morning empty stomach to increase your immune system.
